Poland’s food and farming traditions are coming under growing pressure from an increasingly globalised food industry, on the one hand, and pre EU accession regulatory controls, on the other. If Poland joins the EU, the Country’s two million farmers are expected to be more than halved under what Brussels terms the ‘restructuring’ of agriculture, a process which will effectively destroy the cultural integrity and ecological diversity of the Polish countryside.
